Muller-Catoir is one of Germany's finest wineries and easily the best in the Pfalz. It is privately owned and has a history going back to 1744. After 30 odd years, and many Parker 100's, the previous winemaker, Gunther Schwarz, retired after the 2001 vintage. Many said that the estate would go down hill. 2003, however, has proved them wrong, with most people rating the wines to be in the top two in Germany for the vintage. Winemaker, Martin Franzen, has got to grips with the vineyards and winery after two vintages, and has continued to produce wines for this estate that people talk about. Some of these wines are only available in small quantities, so don't delay that order.
