WineSpectator Review: Pure aromas and flavors of black cherry, blackberry and plum, with a dense profile and supple texture. Tightly wound now, with red currant and mineral elements that move in on the finish. Should become more elegant with time. Best from 2014 through 2035.
Parker Review: Charred meat, black currant, and wet stone characterize the bouquet of Jadots 2005 Clos Vougeot. Savory, salty, brightlyfruited and invigoratingly juicy on the palate, this displays more energy and acidity than I would have expected from the appellation. For all of the clarity and juiciness of this wines fruit, grilled meat and stony earthiness combined with the emergence of formidable tannins and subtle but persistent cyanic and iodine notes to turn its formidably long finish somewhat austere. But this is going to result in an exciting rendition of its terroir if left in the dark for at least 6 to 8 years.
Tanzer Review: Good full redruby. Elegant aromas of black raspberry, black cherry and licorice. Dense, sappy and sweet, with outstanding midpalate energy for such a smooth wine. Throws off notes of licorice, sandalwood, cola and minerals. Finishes very long and vibrant, with a powerful but integrated tannic structure and convincing minerality. A great vintage for this bottling.
