"Malbec is one of the minor classic Bordeaux grapes used to in traditional blends. It is a very distinct grape, somewhat lying with the structure of the cabernet sauvignon grape with the fruitiness of merlot. It is easily seen why one uses it as part of the master blend as it imparts in the wine a deep tannic colour and hints of plum.
