Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2015 Syrah John Sebastiano Vineyard has a pronounced blackberry, black currant and black plum-scented nose with a meaty/chargrill undercurrent, plus hints of tar and garrigue. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and packed with black berry and spicy flavors, it has a solid frame of chewy tannins and plenty of freshness, finishing long with some pepper notes coming through.
Unctuous and explosive in the glass, the 2015 Syrah John Sebastiano Vineyard is fabulous. Black pepper, lavender, gravel and cured meat overtones add intrigue to the deeply varietal inky blue/purplish fruit. The 2015 was done with some stem inclusion, but the whole clusters are pretty much buried by the sheer luxuriousness of the fruit. Plush and intensely primary, but with striking complexity, this is a winner from Peake Ranch.
