1999 Bruno Giacosa Barolo Falletto 750mL
Critic Scores
The white label 2011 Barolo Falletto will be released in January 2015. There will be a red label as well in 2011 to be released in 2017. This is a generous and expressive wine that reflects the softness and boldness of the hot 2011 vintage. The Bruno Giacosa house style tends to favor warm vintages such as 2000, 2007 and now 2011, daughter Bruna tells me. The wine enjoys good support at the back thanks to the firm nature of the tannins. The high altitude vineyards (at 420 meters above sea level) have helped to keep the fruit fresh and not weighed down by jammy tones that are present in the fruit used in the 2011 Barbaresco Albesani Vigna Santo Stefano, for example. This Barolo pulls out a great inner elegance. Drink 2017-2030.
